Default what do u think about earning money by websites?

i've heard a lot about earning money from internet. I think that's good, but should we spend time on it if the money we make isn't very much? ex: i once read the newspaper, it said as young people can earn money from their own blogs, tryna have people's visits as they'll see the advertisement site on the blogs and click in. And they can make $5/ day as a high amount of this job. They say it's funny when their blogs can make money for themselve, and to keep it up, they have to spend a lot of time on to make it always attract people. And i wonder, hours a day worth only few bucks? they just waste their time, i think

Well Zane,

It all depends on the purpose of the blog and website. There are plenty of ways to make good money off of a website or blog. Even those who don't necessarily make a lot of money can actually enjoy writing to help people out or as a personal hobby. If you do not enjoy writing and are failing to make money, it may seem like a big waste of time.

Best wishes,

Andrew

Zane, it all depends. The Internet is just a way of reaching people. Whether you make money or not depends on the value of the service you provide. If you don't provide much value, you won't make much money. Making money on the Net is no different from making money in any venture when you come down to the fundamentals. Sure the mechanics are a little different on the Net, but the core of doing business is the same - provide something of value and get money in return.

I would go a little further and say that making money via the Net has many advantages over more traditional businesses. For example, you can run an Internet business from pretty much anywhere in the world. You have a global audience. It's low cost. It can run 24/7. It can be largely automated.

Yes, you can make money from the Net. Is it easy to do so? No. It is easy to set up a website or blog - but making money from it is a lot harder - it does require skill, experience, smarts and marketing acumen. With persistence it can be done.

One final point - not everyone that creates a blog or site does it for the money. I run a couple of sites just for the enjoyment of it. But if you don't enjoy writing I wouldn't recommend starting a blog

Intentionally making a good income from the internet is something that takes time and dedication. There's a few people who accidentally hit the right combination from the start, and many others who either don't make as much as they hoped or make a little money from something they would do just for fun.

IMO, the advice you've just received is over optimistic. Hard work alone will not cut it. You'll probably need to be really clever, really dedicated, and probably have shady values ("Marketing").

It may be wise of you to read this thread in its entirety:
What are the odds of earning a living on the internet?

Then come back and look at the sigs of everyone who has responded to you thus far in this thread. Connect the dots. Repeat as often as neccessary.

I love to make money from internet. That's really my passion that I'm willing to do for my whole life.

There are many ways to make money on internet:

1. Selling products.
2. Selling Services.
3. Advertisement revenue. (People are willing to pay for advertise only if your site is popular)
4. Join activities that reward winners.
5. Investment (Some are scams. Beware!)

I personally love blogs but I don't have advertisement on my blog too.

I love blog because it's a way to do business with my interest and passion. You can write on topics you love and attract people who have the same interest like you. When you have around 1000 readers to your blog. It is popular and you can invite advertisers or register to some advertising network like Google adsense, Yahoo's , TLA, and other company to make advertisement revenue. You can also recommend products that is related to your topic and they will buy because they get value from your writing and they trust you.

Blog are also loved by most people because it provides up to date knowledge and information for free.

Blog are also loved by other sites and the search engines. You'll get lots of people visit your blog from all this places.

Hope it helps and you can PM me if you are interested to start one. I can recommend you free resources and blogs you can learn from.

thanks for all advices.
I do have a blog, but i never think about making money from it, i think it's so inconstant, (it's not in case u are as smart as Google or someone else). But students who do that, they should not let it take them so much time, because some of them do not intend to involve in that kind of job, they are learning the different subjects. I know that it's a real enjoyment of making money in that way, but it also effects them a lot by cutting their time off.

Why consider marketing a "shady" thing ? People who despise marketing (basically, marketing is about building relationships with your prospects and clients... about selling !) have no chance of building a successful business.

Using blog is a very good and generous way to make money online.

If you have 2 hours per day, it's more than enough. All business need time to build and time to see profits. There's no such business on the internet that don't need time and effort.

I won't take time but it takes someone to guide, focus, effort and knowledge. I just love blogging.

Hi, I just want to share that you certainly can make money on the web. In fact, it is possible to make more than $5 a day from blogging, based on my personal experience. With time, the amount that you earn can far exceed the effort that you put in. However, making money on the web does not happen overnight.

To do it via blogging, you need to have a passion for what you are writing on. With passion, then you will find that the consistency in having to write about this topic is less of a chore. Also, the topic must already have a market that people will pay money for. Say if you blog about online marketing tips, there will be people looking for these kind of tips and who are willing to pay for the information you provide or the product that you sell.

Always provide good value content. Original ones are best. It is also best that your blog caters to a certain niche. This helps google to send the right type of ads to your blog. Do not blog about a few unrelated topics on the same site.

Just like any business, you do not expect the money to roll in by doing minimal work. Wasting time happens when you do not do it in the right way.

Hope this helps,
Evelyn

I'm 16 and have been making money online for a little over 2 years. Firstly, let me say that making money online is in no way easy. I think that if you're not a natural entrepreneur, don't even get into this game. You have to be extremelly smart because there is so much competition.

I used to blog and blog and blog and waste tons of my time hoping I would receive my first $100 Google Adsense check. I got tired of waiting and finally started working smarter and not harder.

It can be done but it won't be easy, just like any other business. After some hard work and many numerous hours I can happily say that this is my job and I love it. It sure does beat working at McDonalds like most kids my age are doing! I'm making a little bit more money then them as well!

(far right column is my daily earnings - i'm averaging about $95 per day at the moment)

Oh yeah, this is my first post...Hi Everyone!

Sorry Jakerz, well and Welcome =).

Just meant I'm not always best to respond first, lol.

My previous posts, will agree and disagree here. Business isn't always about being extremely smart, or the natural entrepreneur. Don't discount those whose first ideas didn't pan out. And don't become overconfident, trying to claim not to get into the game. There's always cautions, but it's up to those who heed them.

PS. before more. Whole post looked good, but was 1 spelling mistake . Yes, I'm pointing out just to be an a**. And nope I don't have perfect grammar or spelling. But you had a very distinguished post otherwise!!

I was going to try to be more condescending but I like that image

I can say I'm fully intrigued and would like to hear more. Can you explain what separated you from the average webmaster/developer? Or how you made your money?

You have to contribute something of value to make a good living blogging. Have a focused blog, no one will want to read your blog with your daily ramblings and observations unless you're a person of influence.

Read Steve Pavlina's posts "how to build a high traffic website or blog" and "how to make money from your blog", they're an awesome starting point.

Remember that many people use a blog to demonstrate their expertise on a subject and once they've built trust with their readers, sell additional stuff such as consulting services or e-books.

Zane, if you're working on your own blog and posting in English, I strongly encourage you to build your grammar skills. There is too much competition to not be excellent in all facets of blogging.

Sorry I was in a rush on my way to school

I'm a firm believer in that everyone should try everything because no matter the result they'll learn from it. But, I don't think people will be successful at making money online if they don't have the commitment and that extra special "it" that many entrepreneurs have.

It's not me being cocky it's just me actually trying to help people. I think you'll be able to tell if you're going to make it in this industry within the first 3 months. I didn't make 1 penny until a little after my third month of learning, practicing and repeating. After that I knew there was a big chance that was what I was going to be doing as a career the rest of my life and I'm perfectly happy with that

There's many many many other ways to make money online than by creating websites. Search around Google a little bit. I could make quite a bit of change by doing some local web development or even article writing but those things just don't interest me. I'd rather be unsuccessful at something I love then be successful at something I don't.

Building a trustworthy blog is one of the biggest leveraging tools you can make in this business. If you become recognised as a "guru" in that field you can sell anything to anyone.

I'm working on blogging at the moment just to build my profile in the industry I'm in. I hope to gain nothing out of it rather then the experience, the people I meet and my brand on the internet.
