Default Needing Extra Income

I am a stay at home Mom in need of earning some extra money (around $1 - $2,000). Does anybody have any ideas on what I can do and still take care of my son. I have tried doing surveys online and selling stuff on Ebay, but it seems as if it is getting me nowhere.

What's your education level?

If it's high school, phone sex, independent. I did some adult work, did PS, and banked with a few regs in college.

From personal experience (of course), you just waste your time on surveys.period.
Think what interest you, which niche, and than take all what it takes to get there,

I know it's not easy,
But don't fool yourself there aren't any free meals....

To be helped in order to help,

Cheers

Hi Trixxy,

I agree with attract it, that survey route isn't very
exciting...

Online is the way to go...

There are 3 basic ways to get started:

1) You can start you own business online.

I don't recommend that as a first step, as the learning process and skills needed far outweigh the immediate need.

You have to create a product or service, and then get an online shopping cart, manage delivery or electronic products or physical products etc...

2) You can become an affiliate and market someone else's or multiple products that you have an attraction to...
This takes away the management and administration headaches, but you generally make much less in commission...

Still a good option though...

3) Join a home business...

Pretty much the best of both worlds.

You eliminate the headaches of business start up, and all you have to do is market your business...and you also make much higher commissions as well as leverage other people's efforts as well...

The home business industry has just made a massive change from old school to new school marketing.

The old way, which most people couldn't stand and for good reason, was to buy leads, cold call, and spend your time bugging your family and friends who weren't the least big interested in the first place...

that model caused 95% failure by everyone who joins...

the new way, is having an automated sales system on the internet, that does all the prospecting, qualifying, follow up, and closing of the sales...

Completely eliminating the need for "selling" or trying to close people...the system does all the work. You just drive traffic through marketing.

To get traffic and visitors to your site, you just need to learn some basic marketing skills.

With the onset of web 2.0 i.e. youtube, myspace, facebook, and social bookmarking...it's easier than ever to get traffic to your site...

The great thing about this model, at least the one that I use and make a great deal of money with, is that it pays out large commissions and allows you to earn passive residual income...

Something that Steve definitely adheres too...using systems that generate passive income so you can
go about living your life...

All these things take some effort, nothing comes without putting effort in...but the home business solution is pretty simple and one that I believe in...because of the leverage,
high commission payout, and ease of start up...

You can be in business within a half hour...

I hope that all helps you...

What about home day care or babysitting?

When my kids were younger, I had lots of people who wanted me to watch their kids before and after school and during school vacations. My kids enjoyed having playmates and I liked making the extra money. I got all my "clients" from Teachers at the local school recommending me.

Or MLM?

I don't know your attitude regarding that,
But I know lot of people who didn't think they will succeed, and they did,
it looks like a great opportunity, but you don't know till you try,

If you'll like it and stick with it at least 6 month,
you'll have one more income and the ability to stay at home,

MLM and Network Marketing is what I was alluding to
on the previous post.

Most home businesses are in this arena.

The main difference is that now you don't have to sell anymore if you are in the right company, team, group etc...

With the movement towards the internet, the "system" takes care of all the hard stuff that used to make people fail, and quite frankly just flat out depressed and want to run away.

I had my share of those in the past, and always hated it...but the one I am part of now, is like a dream...because all you do is advertise...and the system takes care of your prospecting, qualifying, follow ups, and closing of sales...

There are a lot of ways to make a lot of money or just a little extra on the internet...I think that the main reason that I made the move to Network Marketing and Direct sales is because of the higher commission structure, as well as the leverage of making money from other people too.

The main issue in the past was that there was no form of duplication...so only the top people who were good, charmismatic, branded marketers did really well, and most everyone else didn't.

But when you have a system that duplicates, thanks to the internet and certain companies that have instilled that philsophy, now everyone can make money...

The main thing to remember, like in any business, is that it all takes effort. I think some people like to buy hope, instead of being determined....

As Steve will tell you, even if it's simple...no one said it has to be hard, but being an entrepreneur and business owner, takes a certain mental attitude and success...

As you put your intention into your daily activity, the Law of Attraction just kicks in and all the abundance flows to you...It just takes action...

Also, the 6 month rule doesn't apply to some of the new systems...it's just a matter of getting eyeballs on your offer, to the right people...you can actually make good money right away now...it doesn't have to be 3 years like it used to be...

Take care,

You can always do some freelancing from home. Try Guru.com or GetAFreelancer. Basically, they allow you to bid for jobs. Jobs range from writing articles to being a virtual assistant to writing software. You do all the work from home and submit work online.

If you have a decent computer, know how to use a word processing program and are good with spelling and grammar, you could try medical and legal transcription and you can do this from home. Brush up on medical and legal terminology (some community colleges offer courses) and offer your services to doctors' offices and court reporters. These days you can have the digital recording Emailed to you and email back the finished typed transcript.

In the case of legal transcription, I pay my typists by the page.

If you are interested and would like to PM me, I can give you further details to help you determine if it's something that would work for you.

Good luck!

Elance.com, Elance.com, Elance.com

Actual, Truly Real work at home jobs there in every category.

That's all you need. You could make $500-$800 bucks a week there part time if you really work at it.

Set up your profile and put your best foot forward.

It's freelance work, sure, but if you land only 1 job a week you can make a good living.

Way, way harder than you're making it sound. I know people who've put hundreds of dollars into elance premium accounts/postings and took months to land a single job.

My recommendation:

1) Pick up a technique called "Bum Marketing." This is a method that even inexperienced web marketers can use to make money, with very little starting capital. That sounds great; but keep in mind it's a lot of grueling work

Basically, you research specific topics, and write a series of articles on them. Once you've written the articles, you distribute them (easier than it sounds,) each article containing a link to a product. Every time a sale it made on the product, you get a cut of the commissions.

Learn more at:

Bum Marketing Method - Free Traffic Tips (Note: I'm not affiliated.)

2) Bum marketing takes a while to get the ball rolling. While you're learning and applying the bum marketing method, subscribe to the Warrior Forum:

The Warrior Forum

The warrior forum is the top internet marketing forum on the web - Where even "big names" and gurus hang out. Create an account, and start reading/asking questions. Learn about marketing, traffic generation, backends, copywriting, the like.

Spend some money in the WSOs section - A private marketplace where internet marketers teach each other their techniques or give coaching for a price.

Once you've been on the WF for a few months, you'll know internet marketing pretty darn well. From there, pick a path and stick with it =)

=========

Sidenote: You can easily make $1000 a month just writing articles for people on the Warrior forum.

Cheers =)

Oh God, another bum marketing gospel singer.

The warrior forum is a monster that needs to be put back to sleep.

I'll still go there, but i'm tired of seeing it.

Articles are good, and one way to get traffic to your affiliate offer or home business.

But the traffic can be dismal for the amount of work...It really depends on your keywords and topic that you are talking about...Otherwise, you have to continue writing new articles on the subject to keep the flow of visitors steady.

If you use that article submitter that I was talking about previously, that will definitely speed up the process...and increase your odds of getting picked up as content for people's blogs that are looking for content.

Articles aren't hard to write...genereally they only need to be around 200-400 words...and it's to add good, high quality content on our product or category.

Also, definitely use squidoo.com and hubpages.com as well...because not only does the search engines love them, but they also have a whole community inside that check out your content as well.

I get at least 50% of my page views from inside those communities as well as the Google traffic.

And videos are still one of the best ways to get that traffic to your affilaite sites.

Affiliate marketing and home businesses absolutely work...it takes a little learning curve, and some ramp up time...but once you learn the basics, in my opinion, it's so much better than trying to get a job here and a job there...

Because once you are set up, and have your system in place, it becomes a cash cow.

I have squidoo pages and hub pages set up that deliver constant traffic, opt inis , and sales from a one time set up.

There is also a place called the wealthy affiliate that for $29 a month trains and offers great forums, and all the resources and knowledge that you need to learn that game.

All the best,

Oh please - Can you think of a better simple/easy way to make money online?

Bum Marketing isn't the "optimal"/best way to make money online, and you sure won't make millions, but there's hardly a simpler way to make money.

It's proven and it works. I've used it and made a few hundred bucks - I don't use it anymore, but I can definitely attest to it's effectiveness.

Aren't you tired of saying good/bad things on this method or that method,
I can hardly see how it contribute to anyone,

If you have something solid to say, say it.

Every method doesn't feet to everyone, some will use it and some not,
try as much as you can to understand it before you go deep,
and by that I mean, even send an E-mail to the one who created it and ask deeply and throughly questions,
It's your obligation,
I know that, I did it, and I get emails from people regarding my websites,
they want to understand, and that's how it should work.
It's your obligation,

No one can describe you every method 100% perfect with all the advantages and disadvantages, most likely he'll describe it from he's point of view.

I am a stay at home mom, and for extra cash I do ebay.
You can hit yardsales if you know what to look for. One god thing you can buy cheap and sell for good profit are reciepe books. I also like to goto pawn shos and antique shops. I really know my jewelry and what sells, and can make a very good profit. A lot of times in pawn shops, they do not know brand names and what sells and you can really get a bargain. I bought an antique ring last time for 50 bucks and it sold for $350 on ebay. Once I got a verc clouded albiet big diamond ring for 200 bucks, and sold for 1k. Its a fun way to make money.

I'm not knocking the e-Bay thing, people do a make a decent living out that, but you have to have make it work for you. I have a lot of friends in college that buy stuff cheap on e-Bay, and instead of reselling it on e-Bay with the starting price being the price they paid for it, they listed the item on Craigslist for a bit more. Sure, there's no bidding, but I know I get tired of seeing the same items on e-Bay being sold again by the winning bidders.

What I do wit e-Bay is selling used books. I'll go the library and buy books that are in fabulous condition from the bins for 10c to 25c, or yardsales even, and then list them on eBay starting at like, $5 or so, plus shipping. So you're really making some decent money on used books.

The only thing with eBay is that you have to build a reputation and good feedback first, and you do that with buying first before trying to sell.

I, too, sell used books on Ebay. I tend to specialize in the chick lit and kiddie section. My main problem was selling too cheap... I'd end up selling them for 99 cents and not getting beyond that. That really peeved me. So I decided to sell one book with a starting price for $5. Okay, so it sold for $5 only but it's way better than making less than a dollar on the books I sold. I suppose I could make a lot of cash if I sold a lot of books at 99 cents, but I'm a little impatient

And my other main problem too wasn't having much of presence or reputation on Ebay either. Both can be fixed by increasing feedback which I had no idea about until recently. I think having a presence and reputation on Ebay can certainly help with increasing bidding prices.

Also, I don't know about you, but I learnt to quickly become aware of the hidden costs in postage. I'd charge too cheaply for postage and end up footing a much bigger bill, well that was my fault so nowadays I charge quite a bit more for postage, especially with that thick old chick lit stuff.
