I'm no entrepreneur, nor am I a blogger. In fact, I hardly knew anything about weblogs when I started my blog. Nor did I know anything about Personal Development. I'm not really sure why started my blog and it took me awhile to see the benefits that blogging might give me personally.

Somehow a horibble blog, no focus, no clear structure, horibble design, but I love my blog. It felt like diary to me and it helped me to articulate my thoughts. Thoughts that I might have not written down if I had not started this blog.

To all the experienced bloggers out there: For a guy who hardly knows anything about blogging, what's the next step to do? Can you see me continuing this blog?

There seems to be some interesting blogs here. I defintely start in this thread to found out what people write and how they go about starting them. I have a few questions though.

How do you start a blog? Some links to would be great.
Does cost anything to start?
What do you write about?

I have considered writing well about health, my opinion on it but I am not sure where to begin. I also don't know if it is worth it.

Hi all,

My blog is called the Awakening, and it basically tackles self-exploration and focuses on honesty. There's a number of articles on recognizing abuse and dysfunctional behavior patterns in relationships as that is something I have wrestled with for a number of years .

However, I'll also be add a number of material focusing on self-improvement some spiritually based and some just practical. I also have some music videos too! Enjoy. There's also a link to another blog, which is my newsletter for my publishing company.

My blog is a lot more lighthearted than all of the personal development blogs i'm seeing. I have created a fun new blog primarily about videogames, but also covering all different forms of entertainment including movies, books, music, gadgets etc.

Right now, it only introduces the two main people who will be involved in the blog. if you would please bookmark the blog, I would greatly appreciate it, and I think if you have an interest in these subjects you will find a lot of great content soon.

I was a sad depressed guy for years.

I dabbled with many other areas of PD, but eventually I got to what I wanted - happiness. I think it comes from emotional mastery, a mix of modern psychology and spirituality. Hence my blog focuses on it the most at the moment - I'm only writing about stuff that has worked for me.

Now that I'm happy almost all the time, everything else is falling into place. So that's my blog, I intend it to focus on many areas of growth - confidence, spirituality, metaphysics, dating and social skills, street smarts, martial arts - and I have some articles written in these areas. But right now it's mostly emotional mastery.

My Blog - Forest Grove Live

I live in a small town of about 20,000 people. We are struggling as a town, and many businesses have come and gone. I am struggling myself with my pc repair shop. Our city websites just plain suck - it seems noone has heard of web 2.0 out here, so I started this blog. I got inspiration from this forum and from other cityblogs like ibrattleboro.com. I wanted to help promote my town, see if I could get people involved, and see if I could make a little money out of it as well. My site is only 2 weeks old and my traffic is steady and growing - all by word of mouth. Last week the city sent me items to post on the blog for upcoming events!

I am in the process of converting it over to Joomla to make it easier for people to log on and post their own stories. I'm not sure if WP will handle what I want to do. I also need to learn more about marketing and adsense - but so far I am making something - little by little. And for 2 weeks old I'm excited. I also have 1 dedicated writer who sends me beer reviews. Hoping to get more.

The polls are doing really well - last week I interviewed the winner of the coffee poll and she was so happy she won I got a promise for paid advertising and a free pound of coffee beans. I'm hoping with this months pizza poll to get a free pizza (at least a free lunch)

I have several blogs as well as a "full service" website...

My website is The Prophet's Place, which can be found at The Prophet's Place--sophisticated diversions for intelligent men. I had originally opened the site not long after Al Gore invented the Internet. It became a very popular site, but fell into disrepair as some other business and life responsibilities took precedent. It's back in business, and I've got big plans for it.

The tagline for the site is "Sophisticated diversions for intelligent men". I need to change that since it really doesn't cover what its about. I like to describe it as "Maxim Magazine meets Mensa"...or maybe what "Cigar Aficionado" would be like if it were edited by Hunter S. Thompson, Evel Kneveil and the staff of "Trasher" magazine.

My primary blog is entitled "Revalation: The Prophet's Place Blog" and can be found at Revelation. It covers the same topics as the primary website, but is updated daily.

I just started a blog dedicated to boxing and mixed martial arts, called ProphetFighting at ProphetFighting. I've got several well known boxing and MMA writers who will be contributing to this site.

Finally, my mom's blog--which I manage and contribute too-- is called "Idol Handicapping" at IdolHandicapping.com American Idol news and information. It provides analysis and prognostication of reality TV shows, primarily American Idol and Dancing With the Stars. She's picked the past three AI winners correctly as well as the previous two DWTS winners. She had pegged Emmitt Smith as the eventual winner last year after the first week....

Its so nice to see people making manifest their dreams and ideas

I'm rather fond of writing and have been doing so in dribs and drabs for many years, waiting for an opportunity to fly in through an open window, such that I could write full time. Oddly, none ever has (however a pigeon once did, and promptly relieved itself on my couch before scrambling back out the window).

So after being on the net for many years and this site for several months, you may think it odd that it only occured to me yesterday that I could start my own blog, and write to my hearts content!

So thats what I intend to do. Now I just have to figure out how on earth one goes about setting up a blog
