Default The Benefits of A Simple Life

I've created a new blog post about the reasons why I think pursuing financial simplicity in life is important.

I go into the trade off between money earned and time lost, and what we put value in. I plan to expand on this topic as I got forward, but it's a nice beginning.

I'm curious to hear what you think.

Hi Andrew!

This is a topic close to my heart! Have you read Your Money or Your Life? Some of the investing advice is a little outdated and/or irrelevant for international readers, but the basic premise is very much related to your post.

Nice post, look forward to hearing more from you on this topic.

Cheers,
Claire

I mostly agree. My money slogan as long as I can remember has been "I can afford anything I want as long as I'm careful about what I want."

However, I really liked Steve's piece earlier, to the effect that the more money you have the more the finer things of life you can enjoy. Then, as long as you keep in mind that the key to gaining more money is to create more value, then there is no incongruence.

Yeah, I'm a big YMOYL fan, though you're right, it's outdated. I'd love to see ideas of how the idea could be updated to 2007. All that's needed is a good place to stick money that yields reasonable returns. I'm investigating loan sites like prosper.com myself, and I plan to report back after awhile if I manage a good return. Just an experiment though. Thanks for reading.
