I'm interested in online selling. And some persons told me they making money on domain names. They said "Gene, selling domain names is an easy business, you may have a few bucks to start there".
So, is this a good business really? I'd like to know your opinions.

Something that was an easy business ten years ago isn't an easy business nowadays.
If you want to make money in it, you need knowledge about the topic.

It a bit like selling art.
Art galeries were a profitable business for hundreds of years, but I wouldn't call it easy.

If you can be creative, then yes this business may be profitable, the same way as virtually all business are when we are creative. And as Brutha said, some ten years ago it was profitable; today, it's very saturated.

Yes it's still possible because domains are expiring everyday. You can pick them up for very little and then resell them or develop them into websites - kinda like real estate.

yeah I have quite a few, and I have had not much luck...well actually no luck. I think I have a few names that could do really well if I worked at it. Mind you I haven't marketed any of them, but I am going to start doing it.

It's not enough to just purchase a domain name, unless it's a three letter domain name. You really need to develop a site, and get page impressions happening, google ranks up, etc. Unless your a designer/developer your going to find it a bit of an investment developing a site.

Also for me, I need to develop sites that actually interest me. A domain name with "casino" in it might be popular, but I could never be bothered developing a site targeting casinos because it just doesn't interest me. Something to keep in mind.

It's not as simple as you think.

I kind of see some of my domain names as stock (like as in the stockmarket)I think they will become more valuable over time, as more and more names get snapped up. So I'm not to concerned, as I don't expect results straight away.

I think any kind of online business is a hard work.
I'm not loooking for a smooth foot path, but I'm not looking for a bridle path too. In other words, I like earning money at my computer, but I cannot work at one daily for 10-14 hours as some other guys.

Thanks for showing that link, I would never normally look at a site like that, because it looks like all those scammer sites, but actually it has good content.
