Default Happily Unemployed

Folks, please congratulate me! I've just successfully completed a bureaucratic marathon through Germany's dreaded work agency and am now officially unemployed!

As a student I felt scared, insecure, caged and gloomy, I was just dying inside. Now I suddenly have access to unexpected inner resources. I use everything I can think of, go to the public library, learn a lot, have tons of ideas... I feel strong, motivated, alive at last, and freeeeee. Being broke, jobless, without any degree and having to start from zero on my own is great. That's a challenge, an adventure. I love it. It's very amusing.

Rose, are you going to school? Or are you educating yourself (through the library, internet, etc...)?

Brutha, that's sho shweet of you to make such an encouraging comment! But you made me laugh They won't get me for a 1 euro job! They'll be impressed by my energy and wonderful personality and find something nicer for me!

Btw, they force people to take these 1 euro jobs by giving them no money anymore if they refuse - but as they already don't give me one cent, they have just no power over me. I'll just say no and they cannot force me.

ixmatus: I'm going to a school to become an alternative health practitioner for animals. But that's on week ends only. (I also want that to be only a part of what I do, not my main job.) And I'm educating myself too, of course.

Sam: yes I was a student at university. I broke up my studies, I'm a college drop-out.

Maybe you can teach people to use Linux? I'd sign up. Especially if you offered installation help.

Have you tried Ubuntu? I ordered a free CD and it came today! I ran the Live CD part (which doesn't install anything) and it ran pretty cool, all my hardware ran fine, and there were some neat programs.

Ok, back to congratulating Rose of that Egypt-sounding City

Yes! I opened this thread and suddenly feel positive energy that was lacking for much of today, so thanks for that Rose!

I suspect I am going to be in your position in a few months from now... but what an empowering attitude...

PS: Does anyone feel positive vibes while browsing these forums? I don't feel like this reading other forums. Just reading a few threads will inspire me.

Rose, this is the start of something wonderful. Congrats, honey.

Awww... thanks Bene, you made my day! That's exactly what I'd like to do, go through life and randomly give people some positive energy, make them smile and feel happy for a few moments...

Dan, if you feel insecure, you don't have to use gentoo or debian immediately. Just take suse or ubuntu, they do everything themselves You shouldn't have any installation problem with them. There are very user-friendly window managers too, like KDE. I don't use them, but I think with them you can do everything without being forced to use commands or to edit configuration files. Isn't there a linux-group where you live? Here there are such groups and also linux-installation-days. That's like a party, but you go there with your computer and they install linux for you and teach you the basics.

Thanks for the congrats all, I have absolutely no clue about what I will do and I love it. What bothers me is that I still haven't found out what my purpose is. But I feel wonderful all the same! The ladies at the work agency told me that with my horrible resume and all the concurrence I'm going to have a very hard time, so that's even greater. I look forward to seeing what's going to happen.
