Is this true that for a Developed Country, just USD$40.00 per day is not much? Even when a person could earn around USD$80.00 per day, the person could not be rich 'enough' ... Ok, lets make some basic counting. 365 x 80 = 29200 What are your opinion about this? I believe that judging a person by the income is not very nice! |

It al depends on where you live. If you live in the US and you live in the boonies or in a midwestern state you could easily live comfortably making $30k/year. However, if you live in California...$30k a year is not going to cut it. Hell, you'd be lucky to support a medium sized family in Northern California for under $100k per year. I believe it is not very nice either. But guess what the funny thing about Americans is: They don't care if they are nice. America is founded on individualism, our consitution is based on the idea that we are freely allowed to pursue selfish ambition AND since our society is based on that capitalist viewpoint, money is often the way of determining someone's social importance. Reality isn't nice. Nature isn't nice. It just is. If you try and tell nature, "Little bunnies shouldn't have to die because they are so cute and what did they ever do to you anyways?" Nature will keep on letting the wolves eat the bunnies. Don't get caught up on "should be". Notihng is as it "should be," everything requires effort and competition, that's how the world works. Like it or not, that's the way it goes down. |

| If someone still has to regularly work to earn money he isn't rich. Also, while $80 isn't seen as much in developed countries, it also isn't that difficult to make that amount here. Even as a kid I could make that amount in a few hours pushing a lawnmower cutting grass. A better standard of measure might be how many hours a moderately skilled person has to work to maintain his chosen lifestyle. In areas with higher costs of living the average pay also tends to be higher.

People who aren't rich work for their money. People who are rich have their money work for them. That was about the best definition I ever heard about being rich. It's not about the amount, necessarily, it's about how that amount is attained. |

| Hmmm, I know several millionaires who've earned their money through working as an employee, and they are still working. Under your definition, they aren't rich, yet, they could quit anytime they want and have millions to live off for the rest of their life.

In Seattle right now, the AVERAGE home costs around $470,000. If you make $40/day in Seattle, you can't even afford to be homeless. | |
