I see a lot of talk in this forum about blogging for dollars. It seems that so many people are trying to make money by blogging that it would be hard to break in now. That train has left the station. What do you think will be the next proven approach to making money online? No "get rich quick" schemes please only real business ideas. |

I think too many people are conflating the Medium and the Message when it comes to blogging. Everyone seems to want to make money online by telling people how to make money online. There will always be room for quality original content online whether it's podcasts, video podcasts, e-books, exclusive networks or blogs. |

The problem is that there's a lot of garbage out there. People slapping up blogs to make money but not taking the time or energy to make it successful. I strongly believe that you need to have your own voice and create content that is driven from within -- not copied and pasted from others. There's plenty of time to jump back on the train. | |

I've actually seen a few blogs that are blatently using other people's articles and not even hiding the fact. They make sure they take all the links out that could possible go back to the original site. These people should survive about 2 months, with any luck less. And yes there is a lot of dross in some blogs, websites too, so if you can take a subject and put some decent, doesn't have to be brilliant, content people will go back. As far as making money from your blog, why not? As long as you are genuinely interested in giving out some kind of interesting info, making money from it isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned. Keep in mind too, that even if the market is flooded right now a lot of bloggers will quit shortly after they start. The advertising market is so big guys like google will work real hard to come up with new ways to make visitors click on those ads. Even if one train has left the station don't worry there's another one pulling in. |
