Default I am looking for someone who would promote my software..

Hi,
some time ago, I made an utility called Just Play Something. It is not that kind of software that people would look for. It is a software which you must tell people about and convince them that it is good and fun to have. Imagine you go to a store and buy a small thing for couple of bucks that wasn't on your list of things to buy but you find it neat and usefull. So this is the same case.

The program is a small multimedia utility that runs a randomly chosen song from your computer in your favourite music player. A few people who actually bought it have wrote me that it was exactly what they wanted, so I think there is a market for such software, only if more people knew about it.

That's why I am looking for a person/people that would promote this utility on the Internet - blog, forums etc., on good manners of course. For such person/people I am willing to give away a half of the product price from every order in a certain time or order amount.

If you are interested, please contact me at support (at) justplaysomething (dot) com.

I think every music player has the ability to simply play a random song out of the box these days.

I know but it is not as comfortable as I imagine it could be, that's why I made JPS. Of course, all depends on taste.

I think there is a market for JPS but I dont know if its the kinda software people will pay for, sorry. There are a lot of freeware music players.

Find a need and fill it better than anyone else. I'm a software developer too. You can do it, there are a TON of opportunities out there. Look for something boring that everyone else has avoided!!

First of all, thank you for your response.

...well, it's not a music player.. Imagine the situation you browse your music collection (in total commander, windows explorer or whatever and you are just looking for a random song to play... You can have all your music files loaded in one big playlist eg. in winamp and turn on playlist shuffling, or you can use JPS and just press a hotkey whenever you want to listen to one random song or another hotkey when you want to repeat a currently played song... but JPS doesn't actually play the song, it runs it in your music player (winamp etc.).

I know you can set up some hotkeys in music players, but I just didn't find it so comfortable.

You are right that the thing you are describing is an uncomfortable workaround.
But that isn't the way a modern media player works.
Winamp (itunes, windows media player etc.) has a media libary that allows you to automatically index folders of your hardware and build a database.
Afterwards it lets you play random songs from it and/or all song of some gerne, or author based on ID3.
You can also make pretty complex smart playlists in winamp.
I can say winamp to play me random Rock songs with a duration from 4 minutes to 5 minutes from the time 1980 to 1990.

Your programm tries to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

That didin't stop the pet rock, did it?

This software needs killer marketing to succeed. I'm sorry to say that the current website does not fit the bill.

Much of what I learned about software marketing, I learned from the InfoGuru Marketing Manual.
