Did you hear about today's launch of BlogRush? I think this is going to be great for bloggers. Digg - John Reese launches BlogRush BlogRush is a free service that was created to help bloggers with their number 1 need: More Readers For Their Blog. By simply adding the BlogRush Widget to a blog, a blogger can get instant and exponential distribution for their latest blog post titles across a nuge network of related blogs. BlogRush users earn "syndication credits" (the right to have their blog post titles shown inside a widget on another related blog) based on their own traffic (loads of the widget) as well as the traffic of other users they refer to BlogRush. Looks pretty cool. What do you think? Andrew |

Hmm. Sounds like it could be either the best thing ever, or a big pile of suck.

UGH! Have you watched the video on the BlogRush site? It's got it all. Cheesy voiceovers, charts and graphs, "But Wait - That's Not All! It Gets Even Better!!!" and even an MLM scheme. Yikes. I was half-expecting the guy to use the phrase "TurnKey Solution" at some point. My estimation: this'll either be dead, or full of spammers, within two months. My actions: abuse the hell out of it while it's still alive.

John's well known for creating good products, plus it's free so I've joined up to give it a try. Let's see how it works out. Andrew

That's your RSS feed address. If you have a blog you should have an rss feed address mentioned somewhere in your blog's control panel. Andrew

I've decided to try it out... why not hey? Most of the reviews on the net take a "wait and see" approach. I'll let you know what happens....

I created a blog with html so it does not have RSS feed. So I guess that means that I cannot participate in this. People were telling me that I should use wordpress but my server host does not take php.

Well you could either switch to a blog platform lke blogger.com or use a tool like Feed43 or FeedFire.com to create a feed with your current site.

| I think you could just make an rss file and update it manually whenever you post, if you have some knowledge of xml... Ex: Go to Wikipedia and scroll down to the rss file example here: RSS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Then just paste that into an rss file, link to it as a feed, and edit it whenever you update your blog to reflect the changes. Here's the liscense agreement for Wikipedia but you could just make you own rss file if you don't like it: Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia EDIT: But if BlogRush needs you to use a script to edit your feed somehow then it won't work with it. |

The widget stats won't show for another day or so but I can see that I'm already getting traffic from it when I look in my statcounter account. Andrew

Yes it is similar but Blogrush will display your blog post titles on other sites bringing you more traffic. For example if the widget is displayed 500 times on your blog, then your blog post titles will be displayed 500 times across the other blogs in the network. On top of this there is an ability to earn a lot more displays of your blog post titles if someone joins Blogrush via your widget or link. So it pays to join as early as possible.

Read this post from Quoteguy in the Technical area of Steve's forums where I respond with several articles where bloggers reveal the horrid click through rate they have received through BlogRush. It's a waste of time... BlogRush

It's too early to tell. It's only been a few days since it launched and it is still being worked on. ie, it's in beta. It is however driving traffic to my sites and this is a new audience I wouldn't be getting otherwise, so I say let's not give up on it so quickly.

Removed the BlogRush widget from RetroReviews.net, in favour of putting some of the money I've earned from Project Wonderful back into advertising the site. Current cost per click: $0.0042. That's about £0.0025. Four clicks for a penny. Not bad, and no pyramid scheme involved.

It does seem like there is going to be a low click through rate. Therefore, the only way to capitalize on the "rush" is to get referrals, just like an MLM. Getting in early does nothing if you don't get referrals (except maybe the bonus credits they've promised). This would be fine, except I can't think of a very good way to get referrals in the first place without being dishonest other than shamelessly promoting my referral link to strangers. I have decided to put it in my signature for a while and see how that works (wish I could get rid of underlining on links). |

If you display the widget on your blog and you have some traffic, you will get referals. My downline is building itself. Andrew

They now have new color widgets, but I'd prefer different sizes! Andrew
