Has anyone read or done any of these courses? I have listened to an audio with van with kiyoski , van is known as a supertrader. Im wondering if any of his material would be a good investment, its far from cheap although judging from what they discussed in the interview it could be very worthwhile. Van bases trading on psychological principles as well as trading skills. |

I wouldn't have classed Van Tharp as a super trader either. What he seems to be though, is one of the high profile psychologists that focuses pretty much exclusively on helping traders improve their performance. I haven't taken any of his courses, although they do seem to get reviewed well by people who go to them. I have read his book Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom, so if you'd like to see what his style is like, and you haven't read any of his work yet, that's a good a place as any to start. He also has a blog.

I'm a fan of Van Tharp's philosophy on position sizing and risk/reward ratios. Its been one of the most beneficial things to my trading style. His book How to Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom was part of my guideline to developing a trading plan as though it were my business. However, for me, his live courses are out of my education budget for the portfolio I'm trading with. I am very committed to investing in my education within my budget and his live courses is outside of my budget for now. I am interested in Psychology of Investing or Behavioral Finance as I've found most of my trading performance is based on my own emotions or the lack of discipline to adhere to my trading system. I know Tharp offers lower cost home based courses, which will probably be my next step in my education budget in the next 6 months. I dont know your trading situation but I hope my persective sheds some light for you. |
