A few suggestions:
You might want to explain your history with animals, your experience, etc. When I look through, I see no real reason why I'd consider you, webmistress, a valid source of info. Own pets? What sparked your interest? How long have you been a vet tech?
Why does the site exist? Just to rehash content already out there with nothing specifically of yours?
This last part is just a personal taste thing: I hate imaged backgrounds. Always makes me think of MySpace and rarely does it convey "professional."
