Your are completely right. This is a trap someone can easily fall in and then feel like he is important for a time. But later he will realize that it isn't valuable and find that he feels he has accomplished nothing.
If you want to be someone that will change history, pick a cause and go for it with everything you can and be genuine. Then you will be remembered no matter what, at least by the people that share your goal.
Then you have written history.
Then you can lie on your deathbed and think that you have gone out and done everything you can for a goal you believe in.
Just think about it very hard what it will be, what you will put your heart into.
I am currently searching for just that.
