It doesn't or I believe it doesn't, people say you can't be enlightened or sense consciousness while in the bone bag, but I don't believe that. Consciousness doesn't choose physical reality as some kind of punishment and I think the mystics who imply that humanity is some kind of prison are full of *bleep*
The whole Buddha, God, whatever is a self imposed form of control to stop self awareness. How could any true teacher/teaching downplay the importance of humanity. It's the ultimate "I'm better than you" religious/god control spiel.
