If you have any form of authority through your name perhaps you could use it to your advantage if you are writing about topics you are already known for professionally. Although it is a personal choice you will have to make yourself, I don't think their is a great deal of privacy concerns to worry about since you are writing from the privacy of your home or office and nobody needs to know who you are unless you put a picture of yourself on your sites.
