Sometimes fun can make for very dilated time. I know the first 5 minutes when I step onto a soccer field seems way longer than the first 5 minutes driving there, for instance.

What I think really makes time go by quickly is the progression towards a goal. You can jump many hurdles, but if you focus on crossing the finish line as the main event, the time will seem compressed because your mind interprets this big goal as the same kind of thing as the many little goals you encounter throughout your day. Just a guess.

I just read something pretty relevant in the book Moonwalking with Einstein. Some guy spent a month in a cave doing nothing for 2 months, cut off from all stimulation. I forget exactly why, but it was for some kind of experiment. But when his team pulled him out after 2 months, they asked him how long he thought he had been in there, and he guessed only 1 month. Effectively, he lost half of his time.

So variety of life experiences -- or varieties of fun, would definitely seem to stretch out your subjective time.
