Bot = Robot. I have no idea how they work but it's a program that answers to instant messages automatically. I think some smarter ones even know how to "think", but most I think answer to predefined questions and phrases. I think most of them are informative(the one who I "talked" to was about entertainment and celebs), as I have no idea what one should talk about to a robot...
