As far as I can tell, "time" is only a way to measure rate of change. If you slow change, you slow "time". If you speed up "change" you speed up time.

The closer you get to the speed of light (pure energy), time slows down (change slows). If pure energy = perfection (which is my personal opinion based on phyics reading), it makes sense that you could control time by manipulating your energy level. Increasing your energy by being fully present in the current moment would raise your energy level and slow time, focusing on something else (say, daydreaming during a boring class) would make you less present in the current moment, lower your energy level, and make time go slower. Just my 2 cents.
