Talent matters, but is not enough.
An opera singer with a beautiful voice will have more success than an opera singer with an average voice if level of hard work is equal.
Without a "package" of qualities around a talent, such as persistence, ambition, hard work, high standards, stability, etc, even the most talented singer will end up driving taxi cabs.
