I wasn't even using my phone at the time. I only saw the problem when Rachelle texted me back to say that my phone was sending her some freaky texts. When I tried to use the phone after that, it kept behaving very strangely, and I couldn't use it properly. In order to get it to work correctly, I had to power it down and reboot it.
I've had this phone since 2009, and it's never done anything like this before.
The specific text message that the phone started sending by itself was the one I sent to ask Rachelle if she was aware that Daan had passed away.
