My other suggestion would be to use the blog software 'LifeType' (google it).

Much better software then b2evolution in my personal opinion, it uses a much simpler template system that doesn't have any PHP - so it should be easy to pick up. (it is written in PHP, its templates just don't have PHP in them

)

b2evolution has alot of baggage, their code came off as really messy to me - lifetype is much cleaner, and has very good functionality.
