This sounds tough and I wish you the best with it.
One thing that keeps coming back to me is the notion that often it works best to look at, include a still open minded approach to what my next step might be, maybe adding this to an intention which addresses the overall outcome desired.
So, for a situation like this, 'I am developing and maintaining my own insight and wisdom about this issue at the same time, avoiding all distraction, so that i am able to see clearly and respond in ways which lead to the greatest good of all"
something like that....
