you didn't ask me, but I'm gonna add my .02

consciousness doesn't act, ego is necessary for action - but like all things, ego is good in moderation

- as long as we draw breath, the ego lives - this is why in other posts I have said "I need DO NOTHING" - that being "I AM" the point of consciousness within, there is no action necessary from ego if it is aligned with conscious creation.

Now, when ego aligns with consciousness and ego is aware of consciousness, it hands over power to consciousness. Ego is great as seeing contrast, at perceiving, gathering data (input), beliefs, judgment, and desires spring forth in ego (with consciousness as their source) after each new creation spurs new perceptions, desires, and choices.

This is much like the conscious mind and the subconscious mind with ego as the conscious wakeful mind within the body reality and subconscious behind the scenes doing all the "Work".

See when ego agrees to move over and let consciousness drive.... consciousness drives from the back seat.

but alas, all consciousness is ONE - so ego and consciousness are actually ONE, but to express them as concepts it is helpful to separate the attributes.
