I say bad thoughts are the effect of depression, not the cause of depression. I can meditate and not have any thoughts, though sometimes I can still feel depressed, so therefore my thoughts are defiantly not the cause.

Your physical body is the source of depression. If you don't use your body like it was intended to in nature then you will become depressed.

Its our over use of oil is what makes us depressed:
Isolating cars and houses, unhealthy processed foods

Primarily is the social isolation that causes depression.

Stop watching TV, walk for 30 minutes a day, learn to meditate.
