I gave up drinking about this time last year after getting drunk several times during the year. Ive not found it particularly hard, although sometimes you can feel a little left out when everyone but you is happily drunk and laughing at very little things which arent in the least bit funny. As far as I can tell drinking has very few if any positive aspects, and a great deal more negative ones (health wise and behavior wise). I have been sober for about a year now (with only one beer in the middle on St Patricks night), and I believe the benifits greatly outweight the costs. Hopefully Ill be able to continue been sober at university and use the money for something worthwhile (shares anyone)
Best of luck
