I'd also note that a lot of these discussions occur because the people taking part are hesitant to start down either path, so they discredit the concept in their minds as a way to justify delay tactics. I'm not saying everyone is doing that, and I'm not saying there's something bad or wrong about doing it. This isn't for everyone. In fact this can be pretty f'ing scary if you're committed.
