I used roommates.com I did not like the service at all. I did manage to find a roommate who i did not know.

For me, it has worked well. He pays me on time. He has a couple habits that bother me, and i am sure i have a couple that bother him, but we are both tolerant.

I am glad i did it. I am glad it was a stranger too because there is no emotional attachtment. He is free to do what he wants, come and go as he wants, and i do the same. I will say that having my own bathroom definitely helps the situation.
