When you're in an ambiguous relationship there may ambiguity about what you want. When you're not clear with the universe you get fuzzy results. Fuzzy intention equals fuzzy outcomes. Get clear on what you want, then analyze the relationship to see if you're getting what you want. If not, you may need to move on. Or you may be able to work with the other person to change if they are willing. But clarity of intention is key.
