My technique is a lost cause ... I'm the only one I know of who actually pushes and pulls on the neck of an acoustic for vibrato/chorus* and to "smear" imperfect tuning ... but yeah, the before and after stretches are definitely something I should start doing. I've always just leaped right into it.

*It actually does create a chorus-like effect on an acoustic, because of how the resonant sound interacts with the original string sound.
