Prog was, in general, always sort of weird, but there was something about Gentle Giant that seemed even more bizarre than most. Compare Yes' "Siberian Khatru" to a song like "Pantagruel's Nativity." Yes seemed positively normal alongside that slab of weird.
I also love how they tended to have shorter songs, almost always under 5 minutes, and often enough under 4. I like that they could be instrumentally talented without the need to solo for ten minutes each.
