Do you ask a question with eyes closed while you are in the "special place" with your guide and then open your eyes and write down the response and then again close your eyes for the next question?
Absvan,
I've found in the development classes I teach that some people struggle with visualization initially. It's usually because their dominant sensing faculties are kinesthetic (they feel the shifts or pick them up through changes in body sensations or feelings first). You could try sitting quietly before you start writing and just be aware of your own thoughts, feelings, and physicality. Then write your question and start writing your response with I feel statements, noting any changes you experience.

Visual images will begin to spring in as you get more proficient.
