There was only a light dusting of fresh powdery snow in the tracks. Two days before, he knew that there had been heavy snowfall, so his prey did not have that large a head start. Karone scanned the sky and the horizon in all directions. Aside from a slight haze to the south, the sky was clear of clouds. He had perhaps a day before the weather would change for the worst, obliterating the tracks, and freezing anybody unlucky enough to be caught without shelter.
