Prior to that widening, the road used to be a parking lot at rush hour. Now, traffic moves SO much easier. My commute time home has reduced by about 15 minutes every day and my stress level has reduced dramatically. Every time I come home now, I think to myself how nice it is that I don't have to deal with that old traffic.
I would bet there are litterally hundreds if not thousands of people who use this newly widened road every day and feel exactly the same way I do.
In the grand scheme of things, this change is irrelevant. I still have the same job and drive to and from work every day. I still have my same family in my same house and have the same arguments with my neighbors about where the dog goes to the bathroom.
In the grand scheme of things, the indisputable evidence of aliens among us would have the same level of impact on the Human experience as a widened road had on my personal experience.
Whether you care about the larger picture or not is just as immaterial to me as what happens in a hundred years is to you. |
Sorry but that is just ridiculous. Comparing the effect of widening of a road on people's lives to that of people finding out there is life on other planets that have technology well in advance of anything we have?
It's ridiculous to suggest people are going to have the same dull reaction that you would have to it... and would not be panicked by it.
The vast majority of the people in the world... for which aliens have up until now been a mythical creature along with bigfoot and Santa Claus... would all of a sudden become reality.
All of those reported stories of people being adbucted by Aliens against their will... raped and probed.. artifically inseminated against their will... all of a sudden that becomes a reality and a fear.
That doesn't even take into account the fear most people will have at the thought of these beings have intelligent and advanced technology beyond anything we are capable of having on Earth.... they could effectively destroy us and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
And if you don't think the general public panics.... take a look at what happened in the US with mass hysteria.... when the Russians launched Sputnik... a little satellite which did absolutely nothing. Or how about looking at what happened when Orson Wells "War of the Worlds" was played on radio in the form of a news broadcast... and people actually thought Earth was being invaded and went into mass panic.
History suggests you are wrong.
