Well there are ways to around it. I sign up to all the free blogging platforms (wordpress,tumblr,blogger etc) and then sign up to Posterous.com (also a blogging platform).
Then I link the posterous account to auto-post to all my blogs (its simple to do when you login to your posterous account).
So every time I make a blog post - It posts everywhere automatically along with any links, linking back to my main website, hosted by a web hosting company.
