In another thread on this forum recently, we spent some time talking about how empowering it is to take responsibility for our own actions. As a result of this conversation (and thanks largely to meaningful contributions from Shamou and others), I was inspired to share my experiences with victimhood vs. accountability, and the difference that these two mindsets have had on me throughout the course of my life.

Otherwise, I'll summarize for you here in this thread: In a nutshell, I have noticed throughout my life that perceiving myself as a victim has turned me into a victim, whereas perceiving myself as accountable for myself has turned me into an overcomer.
Also, I am very interested to hear about your experiences relating to "perceiving yourself as a victim" vs. "perceiving yourself as an overcomer."
