My first ever PD book was Selling for Dummies by Tom Hopkins which I bought a week before I went into sales. I couldnt believe the amount of guys in sales who have never ever read any PD Books! It set me up big time and was promoted to sales Manger, the fastest ever in my old company's history (3 months after training) then soaring to top Scottish Sales Manager within another year and 2nd in the UK! This book is simple and effective.
Next came Frank Bettger, 'How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling'. This and his follow up book are gems for salespeople. Often when you are in sales and especially if working with other sales guys, there bad habits rub off on you. Bettger gets you back to basics and reminds you of what you are really doing. A timeless classic. I wish I could shake this guys hand.
Then came book after book all with a positive message but one that sticks out is Napolean Hill and W Clement Stone, 'Success through a Positive Mental Attitude'. Hats off to these guys. they faced the same and worse problems we face everyday, but just DO IT NOW!
