Scin - I don't really think your being a leech. I was just trying to make a point and thought a harsh tone could be very effective. Working a few hours a week can put some much needed cash in your pocket and expose you to more people and more job leads. May even find a temp job in your industry. You never know how things can work themselves out.
PS - Don't skip breakfast on interview days. Your moms right, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
