This is not quite right. Compilations are copyrightable, but their status is different from other works, and is more difficult to establish. Check out Mike Goad's summary of what the originality & creativity requirements mean in
What is Required for a Compilation to be Eligible for Copyright?, in particular the emphasis that the mere fact work has been done putting togther the compilation cuts no ice. It's touch and go whether the blogger's list of links would qualify.
