Default TV and Caffeine

I re-visited this forum after googling "giving up coffee changed my life" and came up with Steve's post about giving up TV.

I'm ruining my life staying up until 12 and beyond watching TV and then drinking coffee to feel good every day.

Some time ago I got rid of cable and the TV set and I now remember feeling happier all the time. Now, I want to kick caffeine and TV all at once since for me one feeds off the other.

I have a secretarial (typing) business in an office in Atlanta, GA where I'm alone all day. There are a couple of other tenants I can talk to sometimes, but to keep from feeling lonely, when I'm involved in occasional mindless typing projects, I'll listen to various people on XM radio, especially the Oprah Winfrey radio show. During this time if I'm under stress I'll drink coffee and eat sweets. Then after 5 p.m. most of the time I go home and eventually settle down to watching television and staying up late again.

Steve's post about giving up TV was so inspiring, I've decided to stop this vicious cycle and go cold turkey and quit coffee and television at the same time tomorrow.

There used to be a website devoted exclusively to TV addiction but I don't think it's active anymore so I hope people on this website will have something to say about TV addiction.
