How about raising the bar. Demanding better standards. Plenty of people and participants aren't happy with the present education system and its outcomes.
Having standarts and holding people accountable to those standarts is the scientific method.

The best, most admired, sought after companies constantly strive to improve products, and constantly raise their expectations and standards, all the while aiming and believing in total excellence.
Those companies use scientific thinking in that process. The don't prejudge different approaches based on "common sense" but measure the effect different practices have and keep the best.
Nasa for example who spends a lot in training their employes tested Photoreading. They found that it isn't useful for learning knowledge.

What exactly is your problem with the Michelson and Morley experiment?

Bruce Sterling about the financial crisis.
