I did something similar for 9 weeks a few years ago- it was called Navy Boot Camp. I was 26 at the time, 8 years older than just about everybody else, so it was quite an ordeal. By the time I was done, I was definitely in shape, but I was dying from lack of sleep, and after a while, the Drill Sergents screaming 'Move Like You Have A Purpose' in everybody's face got very old. I did it though- made it through without burning out or killing anybody.
The point I am trying to make is that you might want to be careful about pushing yourself too hard, because putting yourself through extreme stress is not very healthy. Case in point- just about everybody in my boot camp company got extremely sick. It wasn't because of any nasty bugs going about, but the stress everybody was going through was wreacking havoc with our immune systems. Also, after about four weeks, tempers really started to get hot for absolutely no reason, again because of stress. All those stories you hear about 'blanket parties' are true...
