Nutritional Calculator
Hey everyone!
I was thinking of a few different ideas that sounded fun for me to develop.
One of these ideas was a "Nutritional Calculator"
Basically it would be a way to enter the foods you already eat, or enjoy eating. Based on your goals (Gain/Lose Weight) it would tell you how much of which foods to eat.
Foods could equal meals as well, such as "Jumbo Jack from Jack in the Box" or "Chicken and Brown Rice" etc.
Basically, this calculator would work at the deepest level of "diets" being that weight gain/loss is just a function of the quantity and combination of macronutrients.
Macronutrients are Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Fats, and when you add those up you get calories.
Based on your specific goals, height, weight, gender, age, etc. you will have different macronutrient and calorie requirements. Truthfully, you don't really need to eat "healthy" foods to reach your goal, you just need to eat the right combination of macronutrients.
So, this calculator would not be focused on dictating what foods you eat, it will allow you to tell the calculator what you want to eat, and then it will help you fit that into your diet.
If you want to eat "healthy" you can, if you don't care you don't have to, but either way you'll still be on your way to hitting your weight gain/loss goals.
In addition, I was thinking about building in the option to import specific diets such as the Atkins diet, or the South Beach diet etc. And if the foods you choose are not within the limits of the diet it would let you know and allow you to choose other options.
