If you're thinking of the original 'exorcism', then the 'exorcism of Emily Rose' is something different. Without giving it away too much there is a part that alludes to how a 'higher' aspect of ourselves is able to make choices to experience pain and attack because it understands a higher purpose and is willing to make this sacrifice.
Apart from this the movie itself was very interesting for many reasons. It was based on a true story and most of it is told from inside a court room, but it is the ideas that it points to which are most interesting. The demons that she is up against would make the most confident of psychic warriors think twice.
