When you look at other people in the world, see them all as reflections, because that is what they really are. See yourself as a multidimensional being that has its consciousness spread around to different personalities or different pieces of self. In different realities the reflection of self is perceived in different ways. Here in the physical dimension, reflection is totally in your face.
The purpose of reflection is to see what you are creating in the moment. I'm not a fan of Esther and Jerry Hicks, but what I think they mean is: when you allow others to be who they are in their reality, you are not placing judgment on the moment, and you are not making the reflection of self wrong. If you are the creator of all your experience, why would you judge or push away that which you have created?
Now, when you are interacting with your negative and judgmental friend, she was showing something about you. The reflection shows you what you're in denial of. In this case, the reflection was showing you that you are not receiving a part of you that is negative and judgmental. Other evidence of this is when you said you wanted to put a positive spin on her behavior. You cannot look at what she's doing as positive or negative, that is adding more denial to the reflection. I'm guessing you see the negative and judgmental part of yourself as wrong. "Wrong" is a form of denial called polarity. And as I said above, reflection shows you what you're in denial of. Your unconscious self creates the play outside of yourself to show you where you have denial in your creatorship.
And one more important point: the mirror reflects the denial within the consciousness, it has nothing to do with the mind (what you know).
