Keep it simple. Start with Blogger (www.blogger.com
) and in a couple of months if you realize this is something you want to continue and expand on, move over to a more powerful platform.
I have met people -- including myself -- who have spent days or even weeks setting up their websites and blogs, and when they finally start blogging, they realize it's not something they really want to do.
I also like writing, and I am very opinionated, but I don't like the commitment of having my own blog. It's like having a dog. If you don't feed it often, it will die. And what is the use of having a dead dog (or dead blog)? There are already millions of dead blogs on the web.
With Blogger you can actually have a post up in a few minutes, and after a few days or weeks you will know if that's something you really want to pursue.
Good luck, and let us know your blog address!
