I am loathe to let go of these less-than-ideal manifestations for a whole host of reasons: delight that what I've got is 'pretty cool'; aversion to returning to the state of not having; comfort; laziness. And, of course, lack of trust, confidence, fear and so on.
I see it as matter of discipline and courage. And behind that a lack of clarity/power of intention. Knowing this, and still seeing intention past all the '7/8th manifestations' to the real deal, is my challenge.
I'd really love to hear from those who've either conquered the same settling-for-less pattern themselves, or know of some successful strategies for doing so.

What works for me is to use it as a base of contrast
- "Hey, this is great, thank you - it is soooo close to what I want." Then further refine your desire. When this happens I think it because as MAX stated, I was a bit ambiguous about the desire/intention.
so be grateful, feel that and then refine it - put out a more precise intention.
