All of reality is technically a dream... The main set of ideas that comprise physical reality makes existence less spontaneous, it is still a dream though and you can leave anytime you want through astral projection.
There are obviously different realities that have a different framework of ideas. When you dream you are having a day-dream in astral reality. You go out of body every night you see. Obviously you are focused in physical reality and having a very intense day-dream. When you die you are no longer focused in your physical body and you enter astral reality.
You will always keep your identity. There is some sort of "oness" experience but its more like you are aware of your identity simultaneously with all others. You don't dissolve to a nebulous state between being and non-being.
