As Dating Specialist says, we use the concept of time distortion pretty heavily in NLP and hypnosis/trance work... time distortion is one of the trance phenomena I use to provide clients with a convincer that they have experienced a profoundly altered state.
You can distort time (well, actually, we cannot NOT distort time, but one can distort it intentionally) through what is known as timeline work, through deep (or moderate) trance, through anchoring specific triggers to specific states within which distortion occurs, through standing in the queue at the supermarket...
