Could someone, please, explain what exactly "both" means?

Is it: at first think about it a lot, then let it go? And how do we know that "a lot" is enough and that we can now let go?
My experiences are: make a very clear visualization, and think about it intensively - sometimes is enough just 5 minutes, sometimes for months (depends on my perception of how "big" is the goal), and then let go - not necessarily forget, sometimes happens to me when I start thinking that it wouldn't, that it is too late

. This could also last for 5 minutes or months...
