You do have a good point though as to the gender assignment of leadership. Since gender is something only we really conceive of - it can be anything you choose it to be.

I do however feel that there is an obvious distinction between a receptive state and an active state, don't you?

I too feel the world 'Alpha Male' is ambiguous and that is why I provided a number of alternative terms so I might be understood a little bit better.
